In what is an unbelievable development NCSU's "Chancellor in the interim" fired a long-time, well-respected and dedicated employee last week, Lennie Barton, head of the NCSU Alumni Association.
Is this the "leading through a challenging period" leadership NC State deserves and that Erskine Bowles had in mind when he selected Woodward?
The facts show that Lennie Barton oversaw the fabulous Park Alumni Building, increased alumni membership, revitalized alumni events and reunions, and more.
A justification is needed for this decision from this short-term chancellor. We need to hear from the Alumni Board as to their position of this matter - did they support this and if so, why?
It is very curious that this happened just days after the latest Alumni Magazine edition that had reported on a Roundtable Discussion about NCSU's leadership and the Oblinger, Nielsen firings.
NCSU alumni need to show the NCSU leadership that this isn't the kind of leadership NCSU deserves.
Write the 'Chancellor in the interim' at Chancellor@ncsu.edu or the Alumni Association Board of Directors Officers.
